Low resolution.

I’m not much for New Year’s resolutions. I have plenty of opportunities to disappoint myself without setting difficult goals.

That said, I have set a couple of hopefully not difficult goals for myself this year.

First, I want to watch more new-to-me movies. For a while now, at least since the pandemic, I have spent a lot of my viewing time on comfort movies — films I love (or at least like) and have watched numerous times. I’m sure I will continue to re-watch old favorites in the future, especially when I want a movie I can halfway watch while I am doing something else. But I’m going to attempt to at least watch part of a new-to-me movie every day.

If you are curious what I am watching, give me a follow over on Letterboxd — I am generally pretty good about logging all the movies I see there.

My second goal is to write more on this blog. I have done a good job of writing for Marvel Time Warp at least once a week — though I am taking a break from Marvel Time Warp while I move it from Substack to a new self-hosted site.

But I want to write more general stuff here. I’ve been as guilty as anyone of substituting social media posts for personal blogging (follow me on Bluesky!), but it seems the collapse of Twitter has encouraged some folks to get back to personal blogging, and I am one of those folks.

So two relatively simple goals for me for 2025. Whatever your plans, I hope you have a good 2025!
